What website development actually costs in Bangladesh — and why the quotes are all over the place

Ask five people "website development cost bd koto?" and you'll get five wildly different answers — ৳8,000 from a Facebook page, ৳25,000 from a marketplace freelancer, ৳2 lakh from an agency, and a lot of "depends, sir" in between. The reason isn't that the work is mysterious. It's that most sellers won't commit to a number until they've taken your advance, because the vague quote is how they leave room to charge more later. Price isn't random — it tracks how much has to be built and how much you need to own. The biggest cost driver is scope: a five-page business site with a contact flow is far cheaper to develop than a store with a product catalogue, bKash and Nagad checkout, cash-on-delivery handling, and an inventory you can update yourself.

After scope comes custom design versus a configured template, the number of pages, whether you need Bangla and English, integrations like a booking system or payment gateway, and how SEO-ready the code has to be from day one. A site that's built to actually rank in Bangladesh costs more upfront than one that just sits there — but it earns that back. This is why a single fixed "website development cost bd" number doesn't exist until someone understands what you're actually building.

Here's the part most sellers won't tell you: the cheapest quote almost always becomes the most expensive project. The ৳8,000 to ৳20,000 sites skip the things you can't see — they're slow on mid-range Android over 4G, where nearly all your customers arrive; they break when you try to edit them; they're hosted somewhere you don't control; and there's no one to call when they go down.
