Ecommerce Website Development Cost BD

What an ecommerce site actually costs in Bangladesh — without the inflated quote and the silent upsells

Most ecommerce dev quotes you get in BD are vague on purpose. You ask the cost, they answer with another question. I will not do that. Here is exactly what a working online store costs to build with bKash, Nagad, cash-on-delivery, courier sync and a Bengali-friendly checkout — and what makes that number go up or down.

Five years building stores for BD merchants. Solo operator — the person quoting the cost is the person writing the code. Floor: 50,000 BDT. Custom builds from 3,00,000 BDT. 50% advance, 50% on launch. No retainer trap.

Behind the cost

Why one developer can quote you the real ecommerce cost instead of a guess

Most BD ecommerce "agencies" quote with one eye on what they think you can pay. A boutique gets 1,20,000 BDT for the same WooCommerce build a small electronics importer gets quoted at 4,50,000 BDT. I have watched it happen for years. The reason is simple — there is a sales person between you and the developer, and that sales person is compensated to push the number up.

I am RH Fardin and I am the developer, the project manager and the person who answers your WhatsApp at 11pm when the bKash payment gateway throws a strange error. Five years in, I have shipped enough Bangladesh-facing stores — fashion, electronics, grocery, pharmacy, organic food — to know what each one actually takes in hours, plugins and integration time. That is what the cost is built from. Not a markup, not a margin for three other people on the call.

When I quote 50,000 BDT or 1,50,000 BDT or 3,50,000 BDT for an ecommerce build, I can break it down on the spot: theme work, product setup, payment gateway integration, courier API, COD logic, order panel, admin training. You see the parts. If you cut a part, the number moves. Try getting that level of transparency from an agency proposal — they will send you a 12-page PDF that still does not tell you what one cart icon redesign costs.

My pricing tiers are 50,000, 90,000 and 1,50,000 BDT for standard ecommerce builds; custom multi-vendor, ERP-integrated or high-catalog stores start at 3,00,000 BDT. Terms are 50% advance, 50% on launch, with a design-approval guarantee — if the homepage and product-page mockups do not match what we discussed, we keep iterating until they do, before a single line of code is written.

What's included

What you actually pay for in an ecommerce build

These are the six cost-bearing pieces inside an ecommerce website in BD. Knowing what each one does lets you negotiate from facts instead of vibes.

01

Payment gateway setup

bKash Personal/Merchant, Nagad, SSLCommerz or AamarPay integration — each with its own API quirks, sandbox testing and live verification. This is where most cheap quotes silently break later.

02

COD logic that works

Cash-on-delivery is still 60-70% of orders for most BD stores. Address validation, district restriction, partial-COD with bKash advance, fake-order filtering — all real work, all included in the cost line.

03

Courier API integration

Pathao, Steadfast, RedX or eCourier order push from the admin panel. Without this, your packer is copy-pasting 80 orders a day into another tab. With it, one click sends the consignment.

04

Bengali + English checkout

Field labels, error messages and order confirmation emails that read naturally in both languages. Most templates skip this — you pay for it once, the conversion difference is permanent.

05

Speed on 4G

Your buyer is on a mid-range Android with patchy data in Mirpur or Sylhet. Image compression, lazy loading, cached product pages — built in, not bolted on. A slow store loses the sale before the cart loads.

06

Admin panel training

A one-hour walkthrough so your team can add products, update prices, mark orders shipped and pull a sales report — without messaging me for every change. The cost includes this; most agencies bill it as "support".

In focus

What actually drives ecommerce cost up or down in Bangladesh

The biggest cost variable is not design — it is integrations. A simple 50-product fashion store with bKash and Pathao is genuinely a 50,000-90,000 BDT job. Add Nagad and SSLCommerz, push it to 1,10,000 BDT. Add a Pathao + Steadfast + RedX courier router that auto-picks the cheapest courier per district? That is custom work, and you are looking at 1,80,000 BDT and up. Add multi-vendor logic where shop owners log into their own panel, take orders, and you settle payouts weekly? Now you are firmly in the 3,00,000+ BDT custom-build zone. Each of these is a real piece of code, not a price-list trick.

The second driver is catalog size and complexity. 100 products with one image each is cheap. 2,500 SKUs with size/colour variants, stock tracking per warehouse and bulk CSV import is a different project. The third driver is content readiness — if you give me product photos, descriptions and category trees on day one, the build moves fast. If I have to chase you for 400 product images over six weeks, the project drags and so does the cost.

Honest advice: before you ask for a quote anywhere in BD, count your SKUs, list your payment methods, list your couriers, and decide who is writing product copy. That one hour of homework can cut 30,000-50,000 BDT off your final number — with me or with anyone else.

Frequently asked

Straight answers before we build.

The cost questions BD merchants actually ask, answered straight.

Ecommerce website koto taka? Real number please.

A standard BD ecommerce site with bKash, Nagad, COD and one courier integration runs 50,000-1,50,000 BDT depending on catalog size and design polish. Custom multi-vendor, ERP-linked or high-traffic stores start at 3,00,000 BDT. Anything quoted at 15,000-25,000 BDT is either a template dump or someone who will vanish after launch.

Why do agencies in Dhaka quote me 4-7 lakh for the same store?

Sales commission, account manager salary, office rent in Gulshan, profit margin for three layers of staff. None of that adds a single feature to your store. Solo developer pricing strips those layers and bills you for the actual work — same WooCommerce, same payment gateways, same result, lower number.

Is the cost one-time or are there hidden monthly fees?

Build cost is one-time. You will pay separately for domain (around 1,200 BDT/year), hosting (3,500-12,000 BDT/year depending on traffic), and SSL (often free via Let's Encrypt). Optional monthly maintenance starts at 3,000 BDT/month. No silent retainer, no surprise bills.

How much does bKash payment gateway integration add to the cost?

Included in the 50,000 BDT floor for bKash Personal (manual verification flow). bKash Merchant Tokenized integration — where customer enters PIN and order is auto-confirmed — is included in the 90,000 BDT and 1,50,000 BDT tiers. You will also need a bKash Merchant account, which is free to apply for but takes 1-2 weeks for approval.

What is the payment schedule? Do I pay everything upfront?

No. 50% advance to start, 50% on launch. The advance covers design mockups, theme setup and core development. The second half is released once the store is live, payment gateways tested with real transactions, and you have signed off on the admin panel training.

Can I start small and add features later? What does that cost?

Yes — this is the smart way to do it. Launch with bKash + COD + one courier at 50,000 BDT, get to first 100 orders, then add Nagad (around 12,000-18,000 BDT), a second courier (8,000-15,000 BDT), or product reviews and wishlist (10,000-25,000 BDT). Phase the spend, prove the demand, scale the store.
