Here are honest numbers. A .com domain costs 1,000 to 1,400 BDT a year at a good registrar. A .com.bd costs 2,000 BDT for two years through BTCL, and yes, it needs trade licence paperwork. Shared hosting from a reliable international provider costs 4,000 to 9,000 BDT a year for a small business site. A Bangladeshi reseller might quote you 1,500 BDT and then forget to renew it.
Managed WordPress hosting for a busier site costs 12,000 to 30,000 BDT a year. A VPS for an ecommerce store doing real volume starts around 25,000 BDT a year and goes up with RAM and bandwidth. Email through Google Workspace is roughly 720 BDT per user per month. cPanel email is free, but delivery is hit or miss without proper records.

For a small business, the real yearly cost is about 1,400 BDT for a .com domain plus 4,000 to 9,000 BDT for solid shared hosting. Call it 6,000 to 11,000 BDT a year in provider bills. Yes. I handle the BTCL .com.bd registration from start to finish. That covers the form, the trade licence and NID paperwork, the bank deposit and the follow-up. It takes 5 to 15 working days, depending on how quickly BTCL processes your file. The registration goes in your company's name, not mine.
This is one of the most common problems I see. If the domain is in your name and you can access the registrar email, the transfer is simple. We unlock it, get the EPP code and move it to a new registrar. If it's in your developer's name, we go through an ICANN dispute or registrar transfer requests. I've handled both. Hosting is easier. We just move the files and database to a new host with zero downtime.
Honestly, no shared host has servers in Bangladesh that I'd trust for a live business site. The right answer is good SSD hosting in Singapore or India, with a CDN like Cloudflare or Bunny in front. That puts cached pages on an edge node in or near Dhaka and gives BD visitors load times under a second. For ecommerce with serious traffic, a managed WordPress host or a tuned VPS plus CDN is the right call.
If email matters to your business, for quotes, invoices and client messages, use Google Workspace or Zoho Mail. They cost 100 to 720 BDT per user per month. cPanel email is free, but delivery is poor. Your emails land in spam, especially for Gmail and Outlook users. Either way, I set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records properly so your mail at least has a fighting chance.
With my setup, you have daily off-server backups, and I keep uptime monitoring running. If something breaks, we restore the latest clean backup, patch the hole and you're back up. That usually takes a few hours, not days. I also lock down WordPress during setup with login limits, two-factor, security headers and file permissions. So the common attacks just bounce off.
