Why a Chittagong importer gets five different Shopify prices for the same store
You sell hardware brought in through the port, or saree lots, or imported cosmetics — and you have run the whole thing off a Facebook page and a bKash number for two years. Now the inbox is a mess, you cannot tell which SKU is actually moving, and you want a Shopify store. So you message four people and get four wildly different prices: 18,000 here, 45,000 there, 1,20,000 from someone in Dhaka. None of them tell you why. That gap is the whole problem with Shopify store development price in Chittagong — the number is meaningless until you know what is inside it.
Here is what almost nobody separates for you. There is the one-time fee to design and build the store — that is what I quote, and it starts at 50,000 BDT. Then there is Shopify's own monthly subscription, billed in US dollars to Shopify, not to me. Then there is the part that bites port-city sellers specifically: because Shopify Payments does not operate in Bangladesh, Shopify adds a small extra transaction fee on every order on top of your gateway's cut. A cheap quote that hides all of this is not cheap — it is just incomplete, and you find the rest out after launch.
My pricing is three fixed tiers: 50,000, 90,000, and 1,50,000 BDT, with fully custom work from 3,00,000 BDT. The tier you land on is driven by real things, not a mood. How big is your catalog — a tight 40-SKU import line is one build, a 900-product wholesale catalogue pulled straight off your port shipments is another. How heavy is your cash-on-delivery operation. Whether you need bKash and Nagad wired in beside cards, how your courier handoff works to Pathao or Steadfast or a local Agrabad rider. I quote against your actual store, then it does not move.
I am one senior operator with around five years on these builds — I design it, I build it, I wire the payments, I hand it to you. You are not paying an Agrabad-office overhead, a project manager, and a junior who learns Shopify on your store. You approve the design before I write a line of code, you pay 50% to start and 50% on launch, and the quote I give you on day one is the number — no surprise line item lands in your lap the week you go live.
