Cheap, done honestly
In Uttara, 'cheap' too often means a store that looks open but can't ring up a single sale
Uttara runs on a quiet little economy almost nobody builds websites for properly: the flat businesses. A woman in Sector 7 selling three-piece sets off her Instagram, a couple importing Korean skincare and shipping it from a Sector 13 apartment, a home baker who does 200 cakes every Eid from her own kitchen. They start on a Facebook page, graduate to a Page shop, drown in 'koto taka?' messages at midnight, and finally decide they need a real ecommerce website. Then they go looking for something cheap - and that is exactly where it usually goes wrong.
Here is the trap. Someone offers a full online store for 12,000 or 15,000 taka, delivers a free WooCommerce theme with the demo products still inside, pastes your bKash number as a flat image on the homepage, and vanishes. The 'store' can show products but it cannot take an order. So every sale still runs through Messenger by hand - you typing the delivery charge for the hundredth time, screenshotting bKash receipts, copying addresses into a Pathao booking at 11pm. You paid for a shop and got a brochure with a price tag. That is not cheap. In Uttara, where most of these sellers are watching every taka, it is the most expensive mistake on the list.
What I sell as cheap is the honest version - the lowest price the work can actually be done at, properly, by one senior person. The 50,000 BDT starter is a real, scoped store: a clean homepage, around 20 to 30 products with proper galleries, add-to-cart, a phone-first one-page checkout, bKash and Nagad payment with transaction-ID capture, cash on delivery, and shipping zones split into Uttara sectors, rest of Dhaka, and outside Dhaka. It is deliberately lean, not corner-cut. Low cost ecommerce website design in Uttara only stays low cost if you scope it tight on purpose, and that is what this tier does.
I have spent around five years on this, solo by choice - no agency, no junior practising on your money, no project coordinator forwarding your bKash question three times before anyone answers. You message me on WhatsApp and you get the same person who draws your design and writes your checkout code. When you outgrow the starter, the 90,000 BDT tier adds 100-plus products, courier API and abandoned-cart recovery, and 1,50,000 BDT covers serious catalogues with Facebook feed and full analytics. Fully custom builds start at 3,00,000 BDT. You never start over, and you never pay for tomorrow's complexity today.
