WordPress, built for a port city
WordPress is a tool. Whether it earns its keep in Chittagong depends entirely on who set it up.
Most Chittagong business owners don't actually care that it's WordPress. They care that they can change a price, add a product, or update a tender notice without paying a developer 2,000 taka and waiting two days for him to reply. That is the real reason WordPress wins here, and it's the reason I build on it for most clients: you get a proper CMS you can run yourself, instead of a locked custom site where every small edit is a support ticket. The CMS is only worth choosing, though, if it's set up so a non-technical owner can actually use the dashboard — which is most of the work and the part cheap builds skip.
Chittagong runs on trade, and that shapes what a WordPress site here actually has to do. The clients I build for are importers and exporters, C&F and freight agents, shipping lines, garment and buying houses around Agrabad and the GEC corridor, and manufacturers in the industrial belts who need a credible site a foreign supplier or buyer will judge them by. For these businesses WordPress is a strong fit: a structured company site, a product or service catalogue, a downloadable profile or rate sheet, contact and enquiry forms that route to WhatsApp — all editable by you, in clean English where overseas partners read it and Bangla where local customers do.
The way I work is simple and it's the same on every project. You sign off on the design before I write any code, so you're never surprised by what gets built. The stack stays deliberately lean: a properly configured or custom theme, the few plugins the site genuinely needs and nothing bolted on to pad an invoice, images compressed for mobile, caching and security set from day one. On launch you get every login in your own name, a walkthrough of your exact dashboard, and plain-language notes on where to change things. You own all of it.
On price, I'll be direct because everyone asks. WordPress development starts at 50,000 BDT, with tiers at 50,000, 90,000 and 1,50,000 depending on page count, custom design and whether you need a shop or catalogue, and fully custom builds from 3,00,000 BDT. It's 50% advance to begin and 50% on launch, bKash, Nagad or bank transfer all fine. I'm one senior operator — when you message about your site, you reach the person who built it, not an account manager forwarding your brief to a junior who's already moved on.
