The reason website design and development cost varies so wildly in Dhaka is not magic and not 'package' marketing. It is scope. A 5-page brochure site for a Banani consulting firm is not the same product as a 40-page corporate site with a careers portal, a Bangla-English toggle and a multi-step inquiry funnel. Both are valid, both have a real price, and that price is set by how many screens get designed, how many functions get built, how much content I need to write, and how many revision cycles you want before launch.
When you call an agency in Dhaka, the 50,000 BDT 'starter package' you saw on a Facebook ad usually means a recycled WordPress template, a stock-photo hero, three pages, and a junior intern doing the customization. When you ask for what you actually need — bKash and Nagad payment links, a proper inquiry form that routes to your WhatsApp, custom imagery of your office or product, a real about page in Bangla — the quote suddenly becomes 1,80,000 BDT and the timeline doubles. I cut that loop by publishing the real tiers up front.
Because I work solo, the cost you pay is the cost of senior work — not a markup that funds a sales team, three project managers, and an office in Gulshan. With roughly five years building sites for Bangladeshi businesses, I know which corners save you money safely (use proven hosting on Hostinger or Cloudflare instead of a custom server, use a well-tested WordPress stack instead of a hand-rolled framework for a 6-page site) and which corners will quietly cost you more later (skipping a proper sitemap, no schema, no analytics, a logo built in MS Word).

Number of pages is the first lever, but not the biggest. The biggest is whether the design is templated or custom. A WordPress theme tuned to your brand colours and fonts is a different scope than a Figma design built from scratch around your product photography — the second easily doubles the design hours. The second lever is functionality: a contact form is free, but a booking calendar, a multi-step quote builder, a course portal, or a bKash and Nagad payment integration each add real engineering hours.
The third lever is content — if you give me copy and photos, you save lakhs of taka; if I need to interview you, write the copy in plain English and Bangla, and shoot product imagery, that becomes a separate line on the quote.
Two things that are almost always cheaper than Dhaka buyers expect: hosting and maintenance. A small business site runs comfortably on a 5,000-to-8,000 BDT per year Hostinger or Cloudflare Pages plan — you do not need a 50,000 BDT per year 'managed VPS' that an agency might push. Maintenance for a 10-page site is realistically 2,000-to-4,000 BDT per month if you just want updates, backups and a real human to call when something breaks.
Two things that almost always cost more than buyers expect: real photography of your office, products and team (a half-day shoot in Dhaka is 15,000-to-25,000 BDT and worth every taka) and proper copywriting in both languages. I tell every client the same thing — pay for photos and words before you pay for animations.

The floor is 50,000 BDT for a clean 4-to-6 page mobile-first site. Most small businesses in Dhaka land at 90,000 BDT for a fuller 8-to-12 page build with SEO and analytics set up. Corporate-grade projects sit at 1,50,000 BDT, and anything bigger — multi-vendor stores, portals, booking systems — starts at 3,00,000 BDT and is custom-quoted.
Two reasons. First, agencies fund a sales team, account managers, and an office — that overhead lands on your invoice. Second, the cheap 'starter' quote usually leaves out what you actually need (payment integration, real photography, Bangla content, SEO setup), so by the time those get added back the quote grows fast. I publish the real tiers up front so there is nothing to add back later.
Standard terms are 50% advance to begin and 50% on launch — that protects both of us. For 3,00,000+ BDT custom builds I can split the second half into two milestones (for example, 50% advance, 25% on staging signoff, 25% on launch). Payment to my bKash, Nagad or bank account, your choice.
Domain registration (about 1,200 BDT per year for .com), hosting (5,000-to-8,000 BDT per year for a small site), any paid plugin or theme licences you specifically want, paid stock photography, and post-launch maintenance after the first 30 days. All of these are listed on the quote at their real cost — no hidden markup.
Adding a proper Bangla version is roughly 15,000-to-25,000 BDT on a 90,000 BDT site, depending on page count, because it is a second design pass and a second round of copy. If you supply the Bangla copy yourself, it is much less — the cost is mostly in writing and typesetting the Bangla, not the technical toggle.
The 50,000 BDT tier takes 2-to-3 weeks; 90,000 BDT takes 3-to-5 weeks; 1,50,000 BDT takes 5-to-8 weeks. If you need a hard rush — for an event, a launch, a board meeting — I add a 15-to-20% rush fee because I have to push other projects, and I will only accept the rush if I can honestly hit the date without cutting quality.
