About the work

What "affordable" honestly means for a Dhaka ecommerce store

Most Dhaka founders asking for an affordable ecommerce site have been burned twice already. Once by a Daraz-only setup that took 40% of margin. Once by a cheap Facebook-shop "developer" who handed over a Shopify trial, called it a website, and disappeared after taking 15,000 BDT. The word "affordable" has been poisoned by both. So let me be specific about what it means here.

Affordable on this page means: 50,000 BDT starting price for a working ecommerce store with bKash and Nagad personal-merchant integration, cash-on-delivery as default, basic Pathao or Steadfast courier handoff, a clean product catalogue (up to 30 SKUs at this tier), and a checkout that does not break on a 4G connection in Mirpur. It does not mean cutting corners on hosting, skipping SSL, hard-coding prices, or shipping a theme that any Bashundhara competitor can clone in an afternoon.

I work alone. There is no junior who quietly does your build while a senior bills you for it. I sit with you on Zoom or in person around Gulshan or Banani, listen to how your customers actually order (most still WhatsApp first, then pay later), and design checkout around that real behaviour — not around what a Stripe-shaped template assumes. Around five years of doing this for boutiques, electronics resellers, food brands and small clothing labels in Dhaka has taught me where stores leak orders.

If your budget is genuinely under 50,000 BDT, I will tell you to stay on Facebook + bKash a little longer and save up. That is honest advice, not a sales pitch. When you are ready, the 50,000 / 90,000 / 1,50,000 BDT ladder is built so you can start small and grow into a custom build (from 3,00,000 BDT) when revenue justifies it.

What's included

Why founders in Dhaka pick this affordable ecommerce build

Six things you get at the 50,000 BDT tier that most "cheap" Dhaka ecommerce shops quietly skip.

01

bKash + Nagad done right

Personal-merchant flow with order-reference auto-matching, so you stop chasing screenshots in WhatsApp at 11pm. Transaction IDs map to orders in your admin panel.

02

COD that does not lie

Cash-on-delivery wired to Pathao or Steadfast pickup with delivery-charge logic per Dhaka thana. Uttara, Mirpur, Dhanmondi and outside-Dhaka rates are configurable from day one.

03

Fast on 4G

Product pages tuned to load under 3 seconds on a mid-range Android over Banglalink 4G. Most Dhaka buyers will not wait longer, and Google Search now ranks accordingly.

04

Bangla + English friendly

Mixed-language product titles ("Cotton Punjabi - কটন পাঞ্জাবি") render cleanly. Checkout fields handle Bangla addresses without breaking the order export to courier CSVs.

05

Designed by the person who builds it

No agency telephone game. The same person you call about "koto taka" also writes the checkout code, so decisions stay coherent from quote to launch.

06

Owned, not rented

You get the WordPress + WooCommerce admin login, hosting credentials and domain in your name. If we part ways someday, you keep the store. No platform lock-in.

In focus

What the 50,000 BDT ecommerce tier in Dhaka actually includes

At the 50,000 BDT starting tier, you get a single-store WooCommerce build on managed shared hosting (around 6,000-9,000 BDT/year, paid separately to the provider in your name), a clean homepage with featured collections, a category page, a product page template, a checkout tuned for bKash/Nagad/COD, an order-management dashboard you can actually understand, and basic SEO setup (sitemap, schema, meta tags per product). Catalogue loading is up to 30 SKUs done by me; beyond that you either upload yourself from a CSV I prepare, or move up to the 90,000 BDT tier where I load up to 150 SKUs and add product filters, a wishlist, abandoned-cart recovery via email, and a coupon system.

What is not in the 50,000 BDT tier, so there are no surprises: bilingual translation layer (add 12,000 BDT), Pathao API live-rate integration vs. flat-rate zones (add 8,000 BDT), Facebook catalogue sync for ads (add 6,000 BDT), custom illustrations or product photography (quoted separately — I can refer photographers in Dhanmondi). Payment split is 50% advance to start, 50% on launch day. You sign off on the design before I write a line of WooCommerce code, which is the design-approval guarantee — if the homepage and product page mockups do not match what we discussed, you get revisions, not excuses.

Frequently asked

Straight answers before we build.

Real questions Dhaka founders ask me before signing the 50% advance.

Koto taka — what is the real cost for an affordable ecommerce site in Dhaka?

Starts at 50,000 BDT for a WooCommerce store with bKash, Nagad and COD, up to 30 products loaded by me. Next tier is 90,000 BDT (up to 150 products, filters, abandoned-cart). Full mid-size store with custom theme and Pathao API is 1,50,000 BDT. Anything beyond that — multi-vendor, ERP sync, custom checkout logic — is custom from 3,00,000 BDT. Hosting and domain are paid separately to the provider in your name (roughly 8,000-10,000 BDT for the first year combined).

Why is your affordable ecommerce price higher than the 15,000-25,000 BDT offers on Facebook?

Because at 15,000 BDT, someone is handing you a Shopify trial or a nulled WooCommerce theme on shared hosting they control, with their bKash number wired in temporarily. You do not own it, you cannot move it, and when their server goes down during Eid sale you cannot reach them. 50,000 BDT buys an actual handover: your hosting, your domain, your admin, your code. If that is not affordable for you yet, stay on Facebook + bKash and save up — that is not a failure, that is sequencing.

Can I take bKash and Nagad payments without a business merchant account?

Yes. At the 50,000 BDT tier I set up personal-merchant flow: customer pays your bKash personal number, references the order ID, and the system auto-matches when you confirm receipt in the admin. Most Dhaka SMBs start this way because the bKash Merchant account approval can take weeks and needs trade license + bank details. When you are ready for bKash Payment Gateway (PGW) with auto-confirm, I integrate it as a 10,000 BDT add-on after your account is approved.

How long does the affordable ecommerce build take from advance to launch?

Three to four weeks from the day the 50% advance clears and you send me your product list, logo and brand photos. Week 1 is design mockups and your approval. Week 2 is WooCommerce build and theme. Week 3 is bKash/Nagad/COD wiring, courier setup and product loading. Week 4 is testing on real devices, your training session, and launch. Delays usually come from the client side — late brand assets or slow feedback on mockups — not from my side.

Will the store work fast for buyers in Mirpur, Uttara, Mohammadpur on mobile data?

Yes — that is the actual benchmark I test against, not desktop speed. Product images are auto-converted to WebP, the theme ships under 200KB of CSS/JS, and checkout has no third-party widget bloat. I test on a real mid-range Android (around Walton Primo level) on Banglalink 4G before handover. If a page takes over 3 seconds to first-load on that setup, it is not done.

What happens if I want to add features after launch — is it locked in?

Nothing is locked. You get full admin access and the WooCommerce ecosystem has thousands of plugins, so a competent developer can extend the store later — including you, if you want to learn. I offer post-launch monthly retainers (starting around 8,000 BDT/month for updates, security, backups) but you are not obligated. Many Dhaka founders take 3 months of retainer to get comfortable, then handle small updates themselves. That is fine — the point is you own the asset.
